Wreck Shuts Down I-95 North for 3 Hours
A three-vehicle wreck forced state troopers to shut down Interstate 95 North in Cumberland County for about three hours early Saturday.

Ashley McKillit, 19, a University of South Carolina student from Georgia, fell asleep around 1:45 a.m. while driving to New Jersey, Trooper Mike Chavis said. Her Hyundai ran off the road and struck the guardrail around mile-marker 64.
The driver of a Jeep behind McKillit slammed on the brakes, but a transfer truck – driven by Rufus Wingo, 72 of New York – rear-ended the Jeep, Chavis said. The Jeep flipped over, hit the guardrail and then collided with the Hyundai.
No one was injured, but the transfer truck leaked some oil, Chavis said. Transportation crews cleaned up the spill.
I-95 North was closed between mile-markers 64 and 65 for three hours, backing up traffic. Troopers had to wake up drivers who had fallen asleep while waiting for the road to be reopened.
Two minor wrecks happened during the clean up, Chavis said.
Troopers charged McKillit with careless and reckless driving, and Wingo with failure to reduce speed.
