A 60-year-old Raleigh man died Monday afternoon in a wreck that closed westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 264 in Nash County.

According to the state Highway Patrol, the driver of a Hyundai Genesis headed eastbound swerved into the oncoming lanes and hit two trucks.

Troopers said the wreck did not appear to have been caused by the wet roads. The driver of the car, Chauncy Adrian Freeman, likely suffered a medical condition or fell asleep, troopers said.

Motorists were being detoured off U.S. 264 at N.C. Highway 231. From N.C. 231 drivers could take N.C. Highway 97 west to rejoin U.S. 264 at exit 20.
