RALEIGH, N.C. — Thanks to the generosity of viewers, WRAL raised more than $54,000 Friday during its Coats for the Children telethon.

WRAL teamed up with the Salvation Army to provide winter clothing for local needy children. All day long, volunteers took calls.

The campaign continues through Dec. 31. It is just shy of $1 million since it started 19 years ago.
