Woman, 22, killed in Fuquay-Varina shooting; boyfriend charged

A 21-year-old Fuquay-Varina man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his 22-year-old girlfriend, police said.

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — A 21-year-old Fuquay-Varina man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his 22-year-old girlfriend, police said.

According to investigators, Logan Connail McLean shot Britny Jordan Puryear in the head at about 9:40 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 200 block of Bridge Street in Fuquay-Varina.

McLean and Puryear were in a relationship and live at the home where the shooting happened. Family members told WRAL that the couple has a 4-month-old baby.

Neighbors said the couple has a history of domestic violence. McLean was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

No other information about the shooting has been released.
