Woman reported missing from Smithfield rest home

Martha Jean Looney is a resident of Classic Care Rest Home at 101 Annie Parker Circle. She left there around 11 a.m. Thursday for her regular, daily walk, employees there said, but she did not return.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Smithfield police asked for help from the public Friday to locate a woman who went from a walk and failed to return.
Martha Jean Looney is a resident of Classic Care Rest Home at 101 Annie Parker Circle. She left there around 11 a.m. Thursday for her regular, daily walk, employees there said, but she did not return.

Looney, 59, is a white woman with salt-and-pepper hair, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 145 pounds. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, brown sweater and a black trench coat. She was carrying a blue denim bag.

She is also visually impaired, according to Smithfield police and her medical issues could qualify her for a statewide Silver Alert.

Anyone with information about Looney is asked to call the Smithfield Police Department at 919-934-2121.
