GARNER, N.C. — A Wake County woman pleaded guilty Monday to shooting and killing her husband inside a camper in a Garner parking lot in May.

Ruby Ashworth Gonzalez, 59, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the May 29 death of Abundio G. Gonzalez, 48. Officers found him dead in the couple's camper parked behind Staples at 1411 Garner Station Blvd.

Superior Court Judge Howard Manning sentenced her to 38 to 55 months in prison, noting that she had confessed early on and cooperated with the investigation.

In a 911 call shortly after the shooting, Ruby Gonzalez told dispatchers she killed her husband after finding him in bed with another woman. She said a person heard crying in the background during the call was the other woman.

The tape of that call was played in court Monday, and Gonzalez sobbed as she listened to it.
