Woman killed in Spring Lake wreck
A woman was killed Thursday afternoon in a wreck on N.C. Highway 210 near a Spring Lake apartment complex, police said.
Posted — UpdatedThe 68-year-old woman, whose name hasn't been released, was trying to turn left off N.C. 210 into the complex at Watercliff Road at about 2:30 p.m. when her 1993 Honda Accord was hit by a Saturn SUV, police said.
The woman died at the scene. An 8-year-old child in the SUV was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, police said.
Another car hit the SUV after the initial collision, and two other vehicles were hit by debris from the wrecks, police said.
No charges are expected to be filed in the case because the Honda turned didn't yield to oncoming traffic when turning, police said.
