ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Rocky Mount woman died early Monday in a house fire, police said.

Firefighters found Vesterlean Reena Knight, 27, unconscious when responding to a fire at 2520 Dalton Road at about 5:30 a.m., police said. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was in the home at the time of the fire, police said.

The fire appears to have started in the kitchen near a stove, and police said investigators don't consider it to be suspicious.
