Woman is second missing from Angier retirement home

Langley is the second resident of the facility, at 431 Junny Road, to be the subject of a Silver Alert this year. In February, 85-year-old Carrie C. Evans wandered away. She was found dead in nearby ravine. Evans died of a severe head injury, according to an autopsy report. Police said there was no evidence of foul play.

A subsequent state inspection at Primrose found only one violation, which was unrelated to patient care. The facility was fined $2,000 in April for allowing residents to smoke in their rooms.

“Evidently, they are able to get out undetected," Angier Police Chief Bobby Hallman said.

Evans’ death increased the urgency searchers felt looking for Langley, even as dark and rain fell Monday evening.

Rickey Brewer joined searchers combing a one-mile area around the Primrose community. “Go in this neighborhood and go door to door … Check empty houses … and look in wooded areas,” he described.

Hallman said the Angier Police Department deployed ground teams, vehicles and K-9s. “We are not holding any of our resources back at all,” he said. “We are doing the best we can to cover every piece of ground."

Langley is a black woman, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 240 pounds. She has brown eyes and short, silver hair. Anyone with information about her whereabouts should call Harnett County dispatch at 910-893-9111.
