Woman in critical condition after 2-car crash

A woman was in critical condition Friday night after a two-car crash shut down part of South Salem Street in Apex, police said.

APEX, N.C. — A woman was in critical condition Friday night after a two-car crash shut down part of South Salem Street in Apex, police said. 

According to Apex police, 35-year-old Amber Croad veered off the road, over corrected and ended up in the path of an SUV driven by 62-year-old William Roberts Jr. 

Croad's two children were in the car at the time of the crash, but were not injured. Croad was taken to WakeMed with serious injuries and was listed in critical condition. 

Roberts was taken to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. 

Police have not said what caused Croad to lose control of her vehicle. 

The investigation is ongoing.
