Woman drowns in Wayne pool
A 65-year-old woman drowned in a pool at a Wayne County home Friday night, authorities said.

LA GRANGE, N.C. — A 65-year-old woman drowned in a pool at a Wayne County home Friday night, authorities said.
Wayne County deputies and paramedics were called to 1961 E. New Hope Road in La Grange at about 10 p.m. because the woman was unresponsive, authorities said.
Efforts to revive the woman, identified as Wanda Best, were unsuccessful.
Investigators said Best's husband left the house Friday night to get something to eat, and he couldn't find her when he returned. When he went outside to the pool, he found her face-down in the pool, authorities said.
Authorities said there was no sign of foul play in Best's death.
