A woman and her dog got out of a house safely when it caught fire early Wednesday.

DURHAM, N.C. — A woman and her dog got out of a house safely when it caught fire early Wednesday morning.

Around 2:51 a.m., the Durham Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at the single-story home on 1835 E. Geer Street.

According to officials, a woman and her dog were found safe in the backyard. The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes.

The Red Cross is assisting the woman.

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
