Woman dies in Edgecombe County house fire
A 73-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning in a fire in the Edgecombe County town of Macclesfield, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedMACCLESFIELD, N.C. — A 73-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning in a fire in the Edgecombe County town of Macclesfield, authorities said.
Judy Morris Corbett was dead at the scene when first responders arrived at 507 W. Green St. shortly after 5 a.m., the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office said.
Corbett's husband, Robert Lee Corbett Jr., was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville and was later released.
The sheriff's office and the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating the cause of the fire.
