Woman charged in chase through Cumberland County
Police charged a Florida woman Friday following a high-speed chase that started in downtown Fayetteville and ended on Interstate 95.
Posted — UpdatedMiriam Sullivan, 48, of Coral Springs, Fla., was charged with fraud and felony fleeing to avoid arrest. Police said other charges also might be filed in the case.
Officers responded to a reported forgery at a Bank of America branch on Mason Street in downtown Fayetteville, and they followed a woman who was leaving the bank, police said.
The woman led them on a chase through town, with speeds reaching 100 mph, police said. Officers pursued her on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, N.C. Highway 87, U.S. Highway 301 and I-95.
Police and state Highway Patrol troopers deployed "stop sticks" at various locations to puncture her tires, but they weren't successful.
The woman finally pulled over on I-95 south the mile marker 35 and ended the chase, police said.
