Wilson man charged with trying to set woman ablaze

A Wilson man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was almost set on fire and was shot at, police said.

WILSON, N.C. — A Wilson man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was almost set on fire and was shot at, police said.

Police alleged Tujuan Jones poured lighter fluid on a woman and tried to set her ablaze before grabbing a handgun and firing it at her.

Jones was later apprehended in an abandoned house by Wilson police, Wilson County deputies, state Highway Patrol troopers and U.S. marshals.

He was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault by pointing a gun, communicating threats and discharging a firearm within the city limits.
