Wendell, N.C. — A 19-year-old from Wendell died late Thursday after a single-car wreck on N.C. Highway 231 near Applewhite Road, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials.
Troopers said Joseph Warren Early lost control of his four-door sedan at about 9:40 p.m. near Corinth Holders. The car left the road, hit a ditch, power pole and tree. Early was ejected from the car, according to investigators. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed was a factor in the crash, investigators said, but no other information about the cause of the wreck has been released.
