RALEIGH, N.C. — Construction crews finishing up the Interstate 440 portion of the Fortify project will close the ramp from Poole Road to I-440 East Friday evening to complete paving work at the top of the ramp.

The right turn lane from eastbound Poole Road to the interstate will also be closed, state Department of Transportation officials said.

Crews will close the ramp and portion of the road at 6 p.m. Friday, and it will reopen no later than 6 a.m. Monday.

A signed detour will be in place, with eastbound traffic on Poole Road turning left on to New Hope Road and then going west on Interstate 495/U.S. Highway 64/264 to get back to I-440.

Westbound drivers on Poole Road will turn right on to Sunnybrook Road and right onto New Bern Avenue to access I-440.
