Monday brings more sun, heat, low humidity
The Triangle faces another day with temperatures approaching 90 degrees before a gradual cooldown puts the forecast back on par with the seasonal average.

Monday marked a third straight day of 90-degree temperatures in Raleigh, WRAL meteorologist Nate Johnson said.
"High pressure lingering over central North Carolina is keeping the warm air in place," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. Monday's forecast high is 90 degrees, two degrees short of the record set in 1990. By 3 p.m., temperatures had already reached 87 degrees under a cloudless blue sky.
Tuesday will again be warm, sunny and way above average for late April, but a cooling trend will begin as the high gradually moves off the coast and winds shift to the southeast. The temperature will get to the high 80s but cool gradually through the afternoon, Gardner said.
Even with the cooling trend, temperatures remain in the 80s through the week under partly cloudy skies.
"The next front is a very slow mover," Gardner said. "Late on Wednesday, the front is over the mountains." It will approach from the west in the second half of the week and may bring the chance for showers or thunderstorms.
"We should really have a very pleasant week," Gardner said. "We have a chance for rain Thursday and Friday and then another beautiful weekend in the forecast."
