Storms spark tornado warnings southeast of Triangle
Severe weather in the southeastern part of North Carolina prompted tornado warnings Monday afternoon.

National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Carvers at about 6:30 p.m. The warning, for parts of Bladen, Columbus, Pender and Brunswick counties, expired at 7:30 p.m.
Skies had cleared in the Triangle by late afternoon, but rain will likely return on Tuesday.
"There's a warm front that's going to slowly lift to the north, and as it does, our rain chance will slowly increase," WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.
There's a slim chance of thunderstorms for the Triangle Tuesday, but any storms that do form could turn severe. A warm front will push the temperatures over 80 degrees Tuesday in the Triangle.
The weather will start to turn on Thursday, leading to "a nice end to the week," Wilmoth said.
Wednesday will be dry but cloudy and warm, with a high around 82 degrees. Thursday and Friday will keep the warmth but ditch most of the clouds. A few showers could creep in next weekend.
