Wayne County deputy involved in wreck

A Wayne County deputy was involved in a wreck Monday evening on New Hope and Mark Edwards roads in Goldsboro, according to the sheriff's office.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Wayne County deputy was involved in a wreck Monday evening on New Hope and Mark Edwards roads in Goldsboro, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputy Blake Ferrell, 23, has been on the force two years. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and was released, according to authorities.

He crashed while on his way to assist a Highway Patrol trooper who was involved in a scuffle with a prisoner, according to Capt. Dwayne Edwards.
