FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. — After a Franklinton water tower under construction was taken offline Saturday night while a second tower was drained of its water, the town remains under a water pressure advisory.

Bryce Mendenhall, director of public utilities, said that water service was restored to customers at about 11 p.m. Saturday, but the advisory will remain in effect for the next 18 to 24 hours.

Mendenhall said that periods of low or no water pressure last night increased the potential for back-siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system. All customers located within the town of Franklinton are advised to boil all water used for drinking, food preparation, and brushing teeth for at least one minute.
