RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested a 38-year-old man Monday whom they say went after a teenager with a machete.

Burt Nathan Hinkson, of 3300-204 Quail Hollow Drive, and another unknown man were armed with machetes when they chased a 16-year-old through a parking lot on Sept. 15, according to the arrest warrant.

The likely motive for the offense was to try and prevent the victim from testifying in an assault case, the warrant stated.

Hinkson was charged with two felonies – intimidating a witness and assault with a deadly weapon. He was released Monday from the Wake County Jail after posting a $10,000 bond.

Police were still searching for Hinkson's accomplice. The victim was not seriously injured.
