Wal-Mart Altercation Leads to Charges

Posted — UpdatedGREENVILLE, N.C. — Donovan Patrick Williams faces weapons and drug charges after an incident outside the Greenville Wal-Mart Friday.
According to police, Williams accosted a bi-racial couple outside the store, then shot at their vehicle. Williams was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm, marijuana possession and five other misdemeanors.
At a hearing on Monday, District Attorney Clark Everett declined to add a hate crimes charge to those Williams is facing. The racial aspect of Williams' alleged crimes will be taken into account in sentencing, Greenville police said.
