Brief scare secures buildings at Wake Tech

Posted November 22, 2013

— Students at Wake Tech's main campus off U.S Highway 401 were told to remain indoors Friday afternoon for just under an hour while police investigated the report of a person with a weapon.

A college spokeswoman said the campus was not officially locked down. Laurie Clowers called the action a "shelter in place."

She said campus police received a tip just after 5 p.m. They gave the all clear about 50 minutes later.

For those of us over the age of 35 or 40 will remember seeing hunting rifles on racks in the back of pick up trucks especially in more rural areas. This is an example: http://www.fototime.com/7E68D3AF5544582/standard.jpg

The main Wake Tech Campus is more rural than urban. Most of North Carolina is rural!

Firearms are much a part of American culture now, as they ever were - as long as you conceal them.
