RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County school system has planned a series of community meetings to begin the annual student assignment process.

The meetings will provide parents with updated information used in school construction and student assignment decisions, including filling three new schools next fall, as well as an opportunity to provide input for the process, officials said.

The meetings will be held on Oct. 29 at Green Hope High School in Cary, on Nov. 13 at Knightdale High School, on Nov. 15 at Sanderson High School in Raleigh and on Nov. 27 at Middle Creek High School in Apex. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and last about two hours.

A draft assignment plan will be posted online in early December, and people will be able to comment on it. District staff will present reassignment recommendations to the school board on Jan. 8, and the board is expected to vote on a final plan on Feb. 5.
