RALEIGH, N.C. — A man killed his wife, then attempted to take his own life inside a home near Garner Wednesday evening, authorities said.

Wake County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to 9937 Huntwyck Drive at about 5:20 p.m., where they found Martha Yses Campusano Cisneros, 32, and Emilo Rodriguez-Rizo, 47, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Cisneros was pronounced dead at the scene. Rodriguez-Rizo died en route to WakeMed, authorities said.

Authorities believe they were the parents of three children, ages 3, 4 and 11. The children, who are currently with relatives, were inside the home when deputies arrived.

"Those three kids. What bothers me, I don't know what they saw or what they heard," Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said.

Neighbors were shocked by the incident.

"Seems like a great family," said Andy Holt, who lives across the street. "Great family, very nice people. I've never heard any commotion of any kind."

Neighbors said the couple had lived in the home for at least three years.
