RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County Public School System has not yet completed the process of distributing technology for distance learning to families who need it.

Now more than ever, Rebecca Rich knows the success of her students relies heavily on technology, which is why she’s so frustrated with the school district.

"We still haven’t been able to pick up devices for my kindergarten and first grade," she said.

Rich says her kids are okay and staying on top of their learning because she’s able to provide them with devices an internet herself.

However, she knows that isn’t the case for all families.

"Some of these kids are going to fall behind and it’s the families that can’t afford that can’t afford to buy the technology that are the people that are being hurt the most," she added.

Three weeks into the semester, the Wake County Public School System says some 16,000 devices still need to be picked up. Distribution began at the start of the school year in mid August.
