Wake County commissioner resigns

A Wake County commissioner announced Monday that he will resign effective immediately.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake County commissioner announced Monday that he will resign effective immediately.

Stan Norwalk, of Cary, will move to Kansas to be near his family, his wife said.

Norwalk took office in December 2008. His term would have expired in December 2012.

Norwalk co-founded of the education advocacy group Wake Up Wake County in 2005 and served as its vice chairman until he became county commissioner.
