RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh vacuum salesman who is a registered sex offender faces charges that he molested a 9-year-old girl during a sales call in Greensboro in late April.

Timothy Jermaine Hayes, 37, of 5424 Pear Orchard Road, faces two charges of taking indecent liberties with a child. He was placed in the Wake County jail under a $150,000 secured bond and slated for a first court appearance next Tuesday.

Greensboro police said that Hayes molested the girl while in her house to do a sales demonstration for her mother and grandmother.

Hayes was convicted of attempted second-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping and taking indecent liberties with a child in 1999, according state Department of Correction records. He served 4½ years in prison and was released from parole last March.

DOC records show he also has previous convictions for breaking-and-entering and drug possession.
