Two sought after taking 'selfies' with stolen iPhone

Posted August 19, 2013

— Cumberland County sheriff's investigators are looking for two men who they believe stole an iPhone and then used it to take photos of themselves.

Authorities said Monday that the phone and other items were taken from a Spring Lake home on July 28.

Shortly afterward, the men, between the ages of 18 and 22, began posing for the photos, which were automatically saved to the owner's online storage account.

The men have short cropped hair, and one of the men has a tattoo covering his right hand.

Anyone with information about the men is asked to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500.

These two need to be featured on an uninterrupted commercial free episode of Americas Dumbest Criminals. :)

Really? All of the horrible things going on in the community that we need to be made aware of and this is what is considered news? There are a million and one iPhone users in this world. Do we really care if ONE is stolen? Not newsworthy AT ALL. This is the equivalent of someone losing an earring. #poorreporting

So, if these two are caugh and punished, their punishment would be disproportionate due to their race????

I think you can rule out finding them on a college campus or in a library.

There is a pawn shop in the background... maybe check there? They might have surveillance to get a license plate. I don't know though I am just a food server not a detective ;)

-f "Between the tattoo on his hand in shot #1 and the gang hand gesture in shot #3, I am sure this guy is better than caught. Wow, really thought that one through."

Actually that is not a gang sign he is displaying but one of a prestigious national fraternity....which I'm sure he is not a member of.
