Shooting, traffic accident
RALEIGH, N.C. — A trailer hauling two Raleigh Police Department horses flipped on its side after a traffic incident Friday afternoon on U.S. Highway 421, officials said.

According to police, the truck hauling the two horses was traveling south on U.S. 421 when a vehicle that had been traveling north on the highway made a sudden left turn, forcing the officer in the truck to take evasive action.

The two horses, Ike and Willow, were pinned inside the trailer after it flipped on its side.

One person stopped by the flipped trailer and used his vehicle to pull the horse trailer upright, authorities said. The two horses were treated by a veterinarian and are expected to fully recover.

Officials said no collision occurred and that the other vehicle did not remain at the scene.
