Two robbed of car near NC State campus

Two people were injured Monday in an armed robbery near Pullen Park near North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two people were injured Monday in an armed robbery near Pullen Park near North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

N.C. State University Police said in a crime warning email to students that the men were driving near the intersection of Western Boulevard and Ashe Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. when they were robbed of their car by two men wearing dark-colored hooded jackets or sweatshirts. 

The victims were pistol whipped and received lacerations to the head, police said. They were able to walk to a nearby gas station for help and were treated at Rex Hospital and released.

Police initially responded to a report about a robbery and shooting, but authorities said no one was shot.

The assailants fled in one the victims' silver 2005 Toyota Camry with North Carolina license plate ZZR-7004. The car was recovered in a nearby parking lot, but the assailants are still on the loose. A detailed description of the men wasn't immediately available.
