RALEIGH, N.C. — After one person was shot at a convenience store Tuesday afternoon, bullets from the same shooting traveled into a nearby hotel room, striking a second person, Raleigh police said.

The shootings happened just past 5 p.m. near the intersection of New Bern Avenue and Trawick Road. Both victims were struck in the lower extremities and are believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators said the second victim, who was staying at the Microtel Inn, located at the intersection, was an unintended victim.

Two eastbound lanes of New Bern Avenue were closed at Trawick Road due to the shooting investigation.

No further information was immediately available.
