RALEIGH, N.C. — Two men and one juvenile were arrested and charged in connection with two armed robberies Saturday morning, Raleigh police said.

According to police, Joseph Clinger, 20, Clinger's younger brother, and Kevin Joyner, 18, approached Beth Holdsclaw in the 100 block of Hillsborough Street early Saturday morning. Holdsclaw said she was on the way home from a night out with friends when one of the men approached her, implied he had a weapon and demanded her purse.

"He made some threat as to hurting me if I didn't give it to him," she said. "Obviously I gave it to him, then he turned around, got in a car and drove off."

Police located the suspects after Clinger's mother told investigators her son admitted to the crime and tried to sell her a stolen purse.

The suspects were also charged in connection with a robbery on Calumet Drive in northeast Raleigh. According to a search warrant, police located most of the stolen items in Joyner's apartment.

Clinger was charged with one count of conspiracy robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon. Joyner was charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of conspiracy robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.
