RALEIGH, N.C. — Two men accused of stabbing a man in the chest and robbing him earlier this month were arrested in South Carolina and returned to Raleigh to face charges.

Police say Juan Jose Ramon, 29, and Edy Cortez, 25, were extradited Friday from Myrtle Beach, where they had fled after allegedly trying to kill 29-year-old Adria San Juan Merdia on March 3.

Ramon and Cortez, both of 2905-818 Red Clay Drive in Raleigh, are charged with attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle.

Warrants state that the men took $200 cash, a cellphone and black leather jacket from Merida before stabbing him and taking his car.

They were both being held Saturday at the Wake County jail under $250,000 bonds.
