Two killed in Harnett County wreck

— Two people were killed Monday in a car wreck near Campbell University in Harnett County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on U.S. Highway 421 South in Buies Creek about 4:30 p.m. when the car collided with a truck. The wreck happened less than a mile from the university, but authorities said no students were involved. 

No other details about the wreck were released.

    They probably added the line about no students being involved to calm the fears of thousands of sets of parents who panicked at the news of a fatal accident so close to campus. Seems reasonable to me.

    i knew the passenger that got killed in this accident.. very sad to hear about this my prayers go out to his family

    The map displayed with the article is showing an area near Mamers, NC, a community on the other side of Harnett County from where the wreck is reported to have happened. Please correct this.

    Four lanes, pretty wide open area there, so this one hard to understand with out more details, prayers to all involved.

    I heard they hit head-on. It's a four lane highway, so I wondered how that happened. I go that route every day and yesterday I was detoured, so I knew it had to be pretty bad. I pray that God will be with all the families.

    The victims were my wife's second cousin and his girlfriend. May they rest in peace.
