— Two people were killed late Wednesday in a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 1 just north of Southern Pines, state Highway Patrol officials said.

According to investigators, an SUV was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when it slammed into a car at about 10:45 p.m.

The SUV burst into flames following the crash, killing a man inside and Jasmine Wicker, 20, of Sanford, who was driving the other car.

Investigators have not released the man's name or other information about the wreck.

The road was closed in both directions for about three hours while crews investigated and cleaned up the travel lanes.

Why are these people given licenses if they can't even tell which side of the road they're supposed to be on?
