Two found shot in Fayetteville apartment complex parking lot

Fayetteville police are investigating after one man was found dead and another injured from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of an apartment complex Friday evening.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are investigating after one man was found dead and another injured in the parking lot of an apartment complex Friday evening.

Officers were called to the Reserve at Carrington Place apartments around 8:40 p.m., where they found the body of Raymond Thompson, 56, inside a car in the parking lot.

Clyde Terrell Cobb, 42, was found nearby with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was in critical condition Saturday afternoon.

Thompson was a retired Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army and Cobb is a Master Sergeant currently serving at Fort Bragg.

Detectives from Fort Bragg are assisting with the investigation, and police declined to provide additional details.
