Two Fort Bragg soldiers killed in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense on Saturday announced the death of two soldiers who were stationed at Fort Bragg.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — The Department of Defense on Saturday announced the death of two soldiers who were stationed at Fort Bragg. 

Staff Sgt. Kashif Memon, 31, of Houston, Texas, and Sgt. Clinton Ruiz, 22, of Murrieta, Calif., were killed Thursday when their unit was attacked by small arms fire in Khas Uruzgan, Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan. 

Memon was assigned to the 96th Civil Affairs Support Battalion, 95th Civil Affairs Brigade, Fort Bragg, N.C. Ruiz was assigned to the 9th Military Information Support Battalion, 8th Military Information Support Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.
