Two people have been charged with murder in the shooting death of a Lumberton 17-year-old over the weekend.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — Two people have been charged with murder in the shooting death of a Lumberton 17-year-old over the weekend.

Authorities said officers with the Lumberton Police Department were flagged down by a person who had found a body near Roberts Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday.

Police said Keithan Khalil Lynch, 17, of Gough Street, was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where he died as a result of a gunshot wound.

GeQuan Cornish, of Warwick Mill Road, was arrested Wednesday night and Byren Ah’mar Stephens, 16, of Barker Street, was arrested Thursday in connection with the shooting.

Both men were charged with first-degree murder and were being held without bond at the Robeson County Detention Center.

Authorities said the investigation into Lynch’s death is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
