Two charged in kidnapping, death of St. Pauls man
The Hoke County Sheriff's Office has arrested two men in connection with the death of an 18-year-old whose body was found on Fort Bragg last week.

Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said in a statement Sunday that Tayvon Joseph McMillan was lured to the Somerset subdivision off Hobson Road in Raeford on April 4 and attacked by several people before he was taken to Fort Bragg, where he was killed.
His body was found April 6 off Plank Road, a day after he was reported missing.
Joel Thornton, 23, and Jaquan C. Peterson, 19, both of the 100 block of Utah Street in Raeford, were each charged with first-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon and larceny of a motor vehicle.
Both were held on $1 million secured bonds.
“Investigators have uncovered pertinent information that is vital to the ongoing criminal investigation,” Peterkin said. “The investigation continues and additional arrests are expected.”
He did not say what evidence led to the arrests of the men. His office is working with Bragg investigators, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office on the case.
McMillan lived in St. Pauls, about 20 miles away from where his body was found.
His mother, Sharonda McMillan, said she last saw her son about 7:15 p.m. the night he disappeared. He told her he was going to see his girlfriend in Fayetteville.
