Two charged in Hope Mills beating

Hope Mills police arrested two people Thursday in connection with a beating on Monday.

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Hope Mills police arrested two people Thursday in connection with a beating on Monday.

Nathan Wesley Morgan, 27, and Heather Nicole Coffman, 21, both of 272 Wilkes Road in Fayetteville, were charged with conspiracy and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Police responding to reports of gunfire in the 5900 block of Hunting Ridge Road found a person beaten severely with a firearm. That person was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators are looking for a third person in connection with the beating.

Morgan and Coffman were each given a $25,000 secured bond.
