Two charged in fatal stabbing outside Raleigh nightclub

Police on Thursday charged two Raleigh men in the stabbing death of a man early Wednesday outside a north Raleigh nightclub.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police on Thursday charged two Raleigh men in the stabbing death of a man early Wednesday outside a north Raleigh nightclub.

Mario Antonio Smith, 30, was charged with murder, and Gregory Mecos Watkins, 22, was charged as an accessory to murder. Both men were being held Thursday in the Wake County jail.

The charges stem from a stabbing outside Zona Rosa nightclub, at 2241 New Hope Church Road, that killed Dwight Lee Dean, 24, of Raleigh.

Police didn't release details about a possible motive or other information about the arrests.
