ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Two men have been charged and two others cleared of wrongdoing in the May 15 shooting death of a 22-year-old man on Cokey Road, Rocky Mount police said Tuesday.

Clayton Jerrell Epps, 22, was leaving a store on Cokey Road in his 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse when he was shot, police said. He then lost control of the car and crashed into some nearby trees.

Epps died at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Brendan Greene, 22, and Tique Williams, 22, both of Rocky Mount, were arrested Monday after investigators developed new leads in the case. Greene and Williams, both charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, were in the Edgecombe County jail Tuesday under no bond.

Tyrone Foreman, 25, and Jermale Avent, 24, who were arrested Thursday, have been cleared of any wrongdoing, will be released from custody and the charges against them will be dropped, police said Tuesday.
