Four arrested in fatal Red Springs convenience store shooting

Robeson County authorities have charged four people in connection with a fatal shooting that happened Dec. 11 at a Red Springs convenience store.

RED SPRINGS, N.C. — Robeson County authorities have charged four people in connection with a fatal shooting that happened Dec. 11 at a Red Springs convenience store.

According to investigators, two men entered Roscoe's Convenience Store, at 400 N. Main St., at about 7 p.m. and demanded money before firing shots. Clerk Rodney Maynard was shot in the shoulder, and customer James Johnson was killed.

Ladarrian Kearse, 32, and Charkesha Soloman, 27, were arrested in connection with the incident Friday.

Kearse is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. 

Soloman is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Authorities later arrested 18-year-old Vayshawn McLean, who is charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.

They also arrested 22-year-old Darrick McArthur, who is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and felony robbery with a dangerous weapon.
