Twin brothers arrested in tobacco shop robbery

Police said three men walked into the Tobacco Outlet, 100 Premier Blvd., just before 8 p.m. One of the men had a handgun. The men forced the clerk into the back of the store, turned off the lights and robbed the store.

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Roanoke Rapids police arrested twin brothers and are searching for a third suspect in the robbery of a tobacco store on Tuesday. 

Police said three men walked into the Tobacco Outlet, 100 Premier Blvd., just before 8 p.m. One of the men had a handgun. The men forced the clerk into the back of the store, turned off the lights and robbed the store. 

The clerk was not hurt. 

Police later arrested 18-year-olds Darelle Rhisean Dancy and Darrel Lamont Dancy, both of 146 Southgate Drive.

Darelle Rhisean Dancy is charged with robbery, removing a serial number from a handgun and kidnapping

Darrel Lamont Dancy is charged with robbery, conspiracy and kidnapping. 

They were being held under $25,000 bonds in the Roanoke Rapids jail on Wednesday. They are due in court on Dec. 13. 

The stolen money and the gun were recovered, police said. 

Authorities are searching for the third suspect. No description was available.
