— The deaths of 400 turkeys at a Duplin County farm in record heat this past weekend triggered a criminal investigation.

Duplin County sheriff's deputies said the turkeys died at Triple B Farm in Albertson, near the Duplin-Lenoir county line, late Friday or early Saturday.

The farmer told deputies that someone tripped the breakers to the fan and water system that keeps the birds cool. Deputies said they are investigating who tripped the breakers.

I think you missed the point there frog...I mean kermit. I never said I didn't eat turkey or other forms of meat. The thing is, these animals suffered and died in a waste. So your point makes not sense....its not like they will still be consumned. They will be thrown away wastefully all because someone cut off the breaker in a senseless/cruel prank.

All of that potential revenue at stake and this farmer can't set up wireless temp sensors or an audible alert system?

If someone tripped the breakers on purpose could they not have also disabled alarms? I don't think we know enough from the story to make stuff up. Oops, I forgot we are commenting on WRAL. Go ahead and make stuff up.

Sounds terrible, but we will all want one of those turkeys come Thanksgiving. But then it will be OK.

"Someone" tripped the breakers? What if they tripped because of overheating and no one checked on the birds during the day?

probably did... resulting in only 400 turkeys dead. Could've been a lot worse.

..."Crimes against innocent animals are the only time I think the saying "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" should apply...."

Just such ignorant nonsense like this is the reason America is in the sorry shape it is in today....!!!!
