LEXINGTON, N.C. — North Carolina troopers reopened a stretch of Interstate 85 in Davidson County Tuesday after they caught an "armed and dangerous" man suspected of homicide and arson in South Carolina.

"The suspect, who has been identified as Arthur Duval Mims, 45, of 823 Terrance Creek Drive, S.C., has surrendered to authorities," Sgt. Jeff Gordon wrote in a statement to the media.

Davidson County is southwest of Greensboro.

Multiple media outlets report that authorities responding to reports of an early morning shooting at a home in Duncan found the house on fire. Deputies say one person in the home was dead and another was injured.

Authorities said they chased Mims up I-85 from Spartanburg County.
