RALEIGH, N.C. — The Highway Patrol said the driver of a minivan may have fallen asleep before he died Thursday in an accident in Wake County.

Troopers received a call at around 4:20 a.m. about an accident near the intersection of U.S. Highway 401 and Kyle Drive in Raleigh.

Authorities said 42-year-old Thanh Doan's vehicle veered off the road and struck an unoccupied, parked truck. Doan died at the scene, troopers said.

It is not yet known how long Doan may have been driving or where he was coming from or going to.
