RALEIGH, N.C.Sassool Cafe, Bakery and Market on Strickland Road in Raleigh will be celebrating its namesake's birthday on Saturday and you are invited to the party. The celebration coincides with a grand reopening for the restaurant that changed its name from Neomonde on Mother's Day. The party is from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. and will include live music, a block party and more.
I reported earlier this week that Nana's Scott Howell is planning to open Nanasteaks at American Tobacco Campus in spring 2015.
The Stag's Head, a taproom and bottle shop off of Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh, is hoping to open its doors soon. Posts on their Facebook page say they are hoping to open next week.
Thanks to Carpe Durham for the tip that Dain's Place in Durham will be opening up a second venture - a wing place called Heavenly Buffaloes. It will be located at 1807 W Markham Ave. and is expected to open later this month.
Staying in Durham, The Blue Note Grill is planning to move from its current location, 4125 Durham-Chapel Hill Road, to a newly developed property at 709 and 711 Washington St., according to the City of Durham. No word on when the move will be complete, but the owners are planning to redevelop Blue Note into a restaurant and live music venue with a quick-service dining area and an outdoor patio.
I'm keeping an eye out for the opening of JuJu, an Asian fusion tapas restaurant. It will be located in the Shops at Erwin Mill development off of Ninth Street in Durham.
